解題
渋沢栄一を団長として東京や大阪など大都市の商業会議所等で活躍する実業家ら約50人の団員で組織された渡米実業団は、1909年（明治42）に米国を訪れた。本書は訪問から100周年を記念して渋沢史料館で開催された展示会の図録。渡米実業団についての解説文と行程地図を巻頭に置き、続いて多くの写真入り本文4章、そして資料・論考からなる。第1章は渡米実業団結成のいきさつから出発まで、第2章は米国到着から各地の視察内容、第3章は米国各地での歓迎と会見の詳細、第4章は実業団の記録と団員の観た米国についてのまとめ。資料・論考には団員の経歴と写真、出発から帰国までの行程表、そして5点の関係史料と3本の論考を掲載。渡米実業団の足跡を多方面から紹介する内容になっている。
なお、渋沢栄一記念財団は2009年11月に「平成の渡米実業団」事業を実施しており、それに向けて同内容の英文版図録も刊行した。
